The Role
We operate a unique production process that uses microwave plasma to extract a physical carbon powder called Graphene from natural gas. During 2026 and beyond we will be delivering our second generation of system at customer sites globally.
Based in Cambridge, this role has responsibility for build and test of electrical, controls and instrumentation systems on customer products and R&D facilities. The role also includes troubleshooting, modification, maintenance including instrument calibration.

Responsibilities
Working on both customer projects and our in-house production and prototype systems, this role would suit a technician with strong experience of 230, 400 and 24V control systems in an industrial environment.
- Build and modification of 24V control and LV distribution panels
- Installation of 24V, 230V, 400V systems
- Installation testing of circuits and circuit breakers (point to point, insulation resistance)
- Fault finding
- Instrument calibration and maintenance on electrical and control systems
- Installation of containment and supports for cabling and panels
- Installation of fire and gas detection and alarm equipment
- Support for acceptance testing
About you
You will be an experienced and confident ECI technician with the ability to work without close supervision on a varied range of installation, modification and maintenance activities. This role is perfect for someone who likes variety and can adapt to different systems and types of work.
Your experience
You will be able to demonstrate the following in an industrial setting:
- Able to read and understand control panel schematics, wiring diagrams and equipment schedules
- Build and modification of control panels including fault finding on PLC systems
- Installation of 24V, 230V and 400V wiring and equipment
- Familiarity with working in explosive atmospheres
- Testing and inspection of low voltage systems
Experience of some of the following would be advantageous:
- Calibrating and adjusting instrumentation
- Working on complex industrial plant such as large machinery, pharmaceuticals, process or oil and gas
- Minor mechanical works
- Completion of risk assessments, method statements and work instructions
Your qualifications
- NVQ level 3, most likely time served apprentice in an electrical and controls environment
- Any of the following would be advantageous
o Compex Ex1-4
o City & Guilds 2392 Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification
o BS7671
o IOSH Working Safely

- Salary range: £40-50k
- Holiday: 25 days per year, plus all UK Bank Holidays.
- Working pattern: This role is based at our Technology Centre in Cambridge. We take a very flexible approach to hours and understand you probably have responsibilities outside of work. Let us know how we can work together to accommodate them.
- Travel requirements: We don't expect much travel being required. Work-related travel expenses will be covered in line with company policy.
