Production Operative – Topline Glass & Glazing Ilminster, Somerset | Permanent | Full-time | Day shifts from 6:30am
Who we are
Topline Glass & Glazing has been manufacturing sealed glazing units in Somerset for over 50 years. We're the county's largest independent sealed unit manufacturer and glass merchant — and our products have appeared at Chelsea Flower Show, on Grand Designs, and in National Lottery-funded projects across the country. We're a company with deep roots, a strong reputation, and a team that genuinely takes pride in what they make. We're looking for people who want to be part of that for the long haul.
What the job involves
You'll be working on the production floor as part of a close-knit team, manufacturing sealed glazing units to strict quality standards. Day to day, that means:
- Preparing components and materials ahead of production runs
- Hand-cutting glass or operating specialist cutting machinery
- Assembling units using state-of-the-art robotic sealing technology
- Hand sealing products with specialist equipment
- Carrying out quality control checks
- Supporting warehouse and logistics as needed
The work is physical and requires steady concentration throughout your shift. Every unit that leaves this factory carries our name — so quality matters, and you'll be part of making sure it's right.
What we're looking for
You don't need any background in glass or manufacturing — we'll train you fully across all areas of the production line. What we do need is someone who turns up reliably, works hard, takes direction well, and cares about doing a job properly. This role suits people who want to settle somewhere good and stay. Whether you're new to production work, returning to employment, or simply ready for a change — if you're a dependable team player who takes pride in a day's work, we'd like to hear from you. You'll also need:
- Your own transport (the site is just outside Ilminster and isn't served by public transport)
- The ability to commit to a 6:30am start, Monday to Friday
What you'll get
- Competitive rate of pay
- Full training across all areas of the production line
- A clear path to progression — team leader opportunities are open to anyone who earns them
- Permanent contract with a stable, well-established company
- On-site parking
- A team that looks after its own and takes genuine pride in its work
