Full job description

Description

As a Plant Fitter, your primary responsibility will be the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a diverse fleet of construction machinery and equipment, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, dump trucks, cranes, and generators. You will work either in a workshop environment or on-site, depending on the nature of the repair or service required.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnosing faults and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of construction plant machinery.
Conducting routine servicing and preventative maintenance tasks on equipment to ensure optimal functionality and operational safety.
Responding promptly to breakdowns and carrying out emergency repairs on-site when necessary.
Performing inspections and testing of machinery to identify worn or damaged parts that require replacement.
Advising operators and site managers on the correct and safe use of machinery.
Completing relevant documentation and maintenance records accurately.
Always ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
Keeping up to date with technical developments and attending training sessions as required.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Proven experience as a Plant Fitter or similar role, preferably within the construction or heavy equipment industry.
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in construction machinery.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent would be advantageous.
A valid driving license and willingness to travel to different sites as required.
