Albert Bartlett, a leader in the potato industry since 1948, is looking for a dynamic and passionate Engineering Shift Manager to join our chilled production site. Our commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability drives us to deliver the best potato products to our customers across the UK and beyond.

As the Engineering Shift Manager for our chilled site, working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, you will play a vital role in managing the engineering team and ensuring the smooth running of all mechanical and electrical equipment during your shift. Your leadership will be key in maintaining high operational standards, minimizing downtime, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineering manager who thrives in fast-paced, challenging environments and is eager to make a difference within a respected and growing company.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the engineering team during your 4 on 4 off shifts, ensuring high performance and engagement.
Oversee daily maintenance operations including preventive and reactive maintenance to maximize equipment availability.
Drive health and safety compliance and promote a safety-first culture across the shift.
Collaborate closely with production and quality teams to support operational goals and implement engineering solutions.
Manage shift budgets, resources, and contractor activities efficiently and effectively.
Identify areas for continuous improvement, recommending and implementing innovative engineering practices.
Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of all engineering activities and performance metrics.

Requirements

Proven experience in an engineering management role within a chilled or food manufacturing environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automated systems relevant to chilled food production.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Demonstrated commitment to health and safety standards and compliance.
Ability to work effectively within a 4 on 4 off rotating shift pattern.
Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
Experience managing budgets, resources, and external contractors.
