Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Assistants. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with children, support organised activities, and contribute to a fun and safe environment during the summer months. The successful candidate will assist with daily camp operations, supervise activities, and ensure campers have an enjoyable experience. Prior experience in childcare or youth programmes is advantageous but not essential; a positive attitude and willingness to learn are key qualities we value. This paid or voluntary position depending on experience is ideal for those interested in education, recreation, or community work.

Responsibilities

Support the organisation and supervision of daily camp activities, including games, arts and crafts, and outdoor pursuits.
Assist camp leaders in ensuring the safety and well-being of all children attending the programme.
Help set up activity areas and prepare materials needed for various sessions.
Engage with campers in a friendly, inclusive manner to foster a welcoming environment.
Monitor behaviour and address minor behavioural issues in accordance with camp policies.
Support with registration, attendance tracking, and other administrative tasks as required.
Promote a positive team atmosphere by collaborating effectively with other staff members.
Uphold health and safety standards at all times, including adhering to COVID-19 guidelines where applicable.

Requirements

Must be available between 10th - 20th August. 1 day minumum.
A genuine interest in working with children and young people.
Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Organised with good time management skills to handle multiple activities simultaneously.
Flexibility to work during the summer months, including some weekends if necessary.
Previous experience in childcare, education, or recreational activities is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
Must be aged 16 or over at the start of employment. This role provides valuable experience working within a dynamic environment dedicated to enriching children's summer experiences while developing organisational and leadership skills in a supportive setting.

Pay: £8.00-£12.71 per hour
