An opportunity has arisen for a Project Support Officer to be recruited to the Corporate Service Support Project Office Team on a full-time fixed term basis until 31 st March 2028.
A secondment opportunity may be considered; however, this is subject to discussion and approval from your current line manager.
About the Role:
The Project Support Officer will have an important role in working within Highways Environmental Services (HES) to support the delivery of the Regional Transport Fund (RTF) Programme.
Through the Mid Wales Corporate Joint Committee (CJC), Ceredigion County Council has secured Welsh Government capital grant funding of £6.33 Million in FY2026-27 to help deliver the approved Regional Transport Plan (RTP). This is the first year of RTF grant funding for the proposed Five-Year Programme presented in the RTP, with indicative funding allocations also already secured for the next two years.
The role will support project lead officers responsible for planning and delivering a wide variety of grant funded projects including new or improved infrastructure across the County of Ceredigion – such as walking and cycling; road safety; passenger transport; highways; and electric vehicle charging. The role will also support the development of a pipeline of projects, the application process for securing funding in future years and associated specific monitoring and reporting activities, including supporting lead project officers to prepare quarterly reports for the County Council’s RTF Programme Board, CJC RTP Committee and Welsh Government.
On a day-to-day basis the postholder will be required to assist in the development, monitoring and maintaining of project related documentation and leading on the scheduling, administration and noting of a range of project meetings. The role will demand face to face, written, verbal and electronic communications with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
About the Candidate:
We are seeking an individual who possesses a minimum level of qualifications from the following:
A project management (e.g. Prince2)/managerial qualification to degree/NVQ5 level or demonstrable equivalent experience.
The following qualities required for the post include:
Good understanding and experience of using various Programme and Project Management tools and techniques.
Excellent IT Skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Excellent interpersonal, planning and organisation skills with outstanding ability to prioritise and schedule workloads and work within set deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and consistency.
Experience of working in a Programme / Project Management Office or within a similar environment.
Good communications skills to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
