As a Senior Analyst - Audit at Hall Morrice, you’ll go beyond ticking boxes—you’ll lead key sections of audit assignments, support and develop junior colleagues, and contribute to delivering exceptional client service in a firm that truly values innovation, teamwork and growth.
Responsibilities
- Plan, perform and complete audit fieldwork for assigned engagements, taking ownership of significant sections from risk assessment through to completion.
- Prepare and review audit working papers to ISA UK and firm methodology standards, using Inflo throughout.
- Identify audit risks, apply professional judgement and document findings clearly, escalating where appropriate.
- Support completion and clearance of audit files through to finalisation, including resolution of review points.
- Prepare statutory accounts for audit clients where required.
Technical & Compliance
- Maintain strong working knowledge of ISA UK auditing standards and UK GAAP (FRS 102).
- Ensure all audit work meets regulatory, ethical and firm quality requirements.
- Support internal quality control processes and assist with implementing changes to audit standards.
- Maintain mandatory CPD; assist with ISA updates and methodology changes across engagements.
Review & Supervision
- Review work produced by trainees and junior analysts, providing clear and constructive feedback.
- Provide day-to-day audit guidance and on-the-job support to junior team members.
- Contribute to the on-the-job training and development of audit staff.
Client Engagement
- Build professional working relationships with client finance teams and management.
- Act as a key point of contact during audit engagements, responding to queries efficiently and professionally.
- Collaborate with managers and partners to deliver a high-quality audit experience.
Planning & Coordination
- Assist managers in planning audit engagements: timelines, resource allocation, risk assessment and Inflo set-up.
- Support audit closing meetings and client reporting.
- Manage own time effectively across concurrent audit assignments.
Commercial Awareness
- Maintain accurate WIP records. Monitor time on engagements and raise cost or schedule concerns to the manager promptly.
- Develop awareness of billing, recovery and efficient audit delivery.
Systems & Digital
- Inflo used proficiently across all relevant modules: planning, risk assessment, documentation and file completion.
- CCH and Microsoft Excel used accurately across all audit work.
- Engaged with digital methodology changes as introduced.
Quality & Standards
- Deliver audit file sections to a standard that requires only light manager correction.
- Maintain consistent attention to detail, accuracy and professional scepticism.
- Maintain CPD in line with post-qualification requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- ACA/ACCA/CA — qualified, exam-qualified or finalist.
- Practice audit experience. Strong ISA UK and UK GAAP (FRS 102) knowledge. Inflo or equivalent audit software experience.
Technical Skills
- ISA UK auditing standards: strong working knowledge and practical application.
- UK GAAP (FRS 102) and financial reporting fundamentals.
- Inflo: proficient across planning, risk assessment and documentation modules.
- Analytical judgement: ability to identify risks and apply professional scepticism.
- CCH and Excel used accurately.
Communication Skills
- Professional and confident with clients during audit engagements.
- Handles queries and explains audit matters clearly to client contacts.
- Gives clear, constructive feedback to trainees and junior analysts.
