The Senior Physiotherapy Technician will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality physiotherapy services at Nevill Hall Hospital, working predominantly within the Musculoskeletal (MSK) outpatient service. The post holder will work under the supervision of registered physiotherapists to deliver delegated rehabilitation programmes, exercises classes and contribute to the effective running of the service.
The role includes assisting with assessment and treatment delivery for patients, facilitating exercise programmes (including group and individual sessions), and supporting self-management approaches to promote patient independence and recovery. The post holder will be expected to use sound clinical judgement within agreed competencies and escalate concerns appropriately.
In addition to the primary MSK focus, the post holder will be required to provide flexible cross-cover to inpatient wards and outpatient neurological rehabilitation services as service demands dictate. This will involve supporting rehabilitation of patients with a range of conditions, contributing to safe discharge planning and continuity of care.
The Senior Physiotherapy Technician will also support service development, supervise junior support staff where appropriate, and contribute to maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, and experience. Strong communication, organisational skills, and the ability to work across teams are essential to meet the dynamic needs of the service.
The post is predominantly clinical with an element of non-clinical duties which will include supporting clinicians with admin duties, housekeeping and monitoring and ordering of equipment and supplies.
Good time management and prioritisation skills are crucial for this role, as is the ability to work calmly and thoroughly under pressure.
You will need to display excellent communication skills, as the post involves direct patient contact, communication with referrers, as well as the wider Physiotherapy and Administration teams.
Documentation of patient notes to an appropriate standard, and the ability to adapt programs independently is vital to this post.
The post holder will be expected to work towards completion of the Agored Level 3 Diploma in Physiotherapy Support.
The post holder must demonstrate flexibility and be willing to cross cover sites across ABUHB as service needs dictate.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
