Overview
Angus & Oink is a Scottish food brand on a mission to bring their story of travel to life through their seasoning products. From a standing start we’ve built a fast-growing business and a loyal community of food lovers who cook with our rubs, sauces and seasonings every day. We design, blend and make everything here in Scotland.
We’re now looking for an experienced technical and production person to take ownership of how our site runs and how we keep our quality and food-safety standards watertight as we grow.
The role
This is a hands-on leadership role with real ownership. You’ll be responsible for keeping production running smoothly day-to-day and for building and maintaining the systems that keep us compliant, efficient and audit-ready. You’ll lead a small, capable production team and report directly to the founders.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Owning our SALSA accreditation and food-safety systems — maintaining them, documenting them properly, and leading us through audits
- Managing day-to-day production flow across blending and packing to hit output and quality targets
- Overseeing raw material ordering, stock control and inventory tracking
- Leading, supporting and developing the production team
- Driving continuous improvement in efficiency, traceability and process as we scale
- Working closely with the founders on capacity planning and new product introduction
Experience
- Hands-on experience in food production in a supervisory or management role
- Strong working knowledge of SALSA and HACCP. Experience setting up or building food-safety systems, not just operating within them
- Comfortable owning documentation, traceability and audit preparation
- Confident managing and developing a small team
- Organised, practical, and able to keep a busy site moving
- A genuine interest in food and quality — you’ll fit right in if you care about getting things right
- Familiarity with industrial safety standards and best practices for manufacturing environments.
- Relevant food-safety or quality qualifications (e.g. Level 3 Food Safety, HACCP certification)
- Experience with inventory or ERP systems
- Experience in a growing SME where you’ve had to build things, not just maintain them
This role provides a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for a proactive leader committed to operational excellence and innovation within the manufacturing sector.
