Full job description

We are seeking an Embedded Electronics Design Engineer to lead hardware development from concept to production, Based at our factory in Accrington. In this role, you will design complex PCBs using Altium Designer, integrate PIC microcontrollers architecture and implement robust wired and wireless communication protocols including PoE, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi.

Responsibilities

Full Lifecycle Design: Take hardware projects from initial concept through to PCB layout, prototyping, and production.
Component Selection & Integration:
Power & Comm Management: RS-232/422/485, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) interfaces.
Compliance & Testing: Apply EMC design techniques to ensure products meet regulatory and certification standards.
Technical Writing: Create technical documentation, including data sheets, schematics, and production test specifications.

Required Skills & Experience

EDA Tools: Proven experience with Altium Designer for multi-layer PCB design.
Microcontrollers: familiarity with PIC microcontroller architectures an advantage
Memory Interfaces: Practical experience implementing external EEPROM and Flash memory.
Industrial Communications: Hands-on experience with RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and PoE standards.
Power Design: localized PSU and power management circuit design.
EMC : understanding of board-level EMC techniques, shielding, and noise reduction.
RFID & Contactless: Experience with RFID technologies, specifically MIFARE and DESFire protocols.
Firmware: Basic understanding of C/C++ for hardware validation and bring-up.

We are a small, agile UK company offering a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Embedded Electronics Design Engineer to join our team on-site in Accrington. In this senior-level role, you will enjoy a high degree of autonomy to work independently while collaborating closely with a close-knit engineering team. You will be a key influencer in the overall development and strategic expansion of our entire product range, taking complex hardware projects from initial concept through to full production.
