We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, high quality, candidate to fill our current vacancy for a Repairs Inspector to join our team within Building Services.
This is a varied and interesting role which plays a key role in the delivery of reactive repairs service to CYC housing stock by carrying out building surveys to diagnose faults and organise appropriate repairs achieving high quality standards, value for money and excellent customer satisfaction; either as a one-off reactive repair or as a planned minor works contract.
To provide a comprehensive specialised technical service to ensure that potential damp and mould issues and structural repairs are dealt with professionally and as expeditiously as possible.
The post holder will play a key role in delivering our damp and mould process. They will carry out detailed pre/post inspections on all properties where customers report damp and mould, identifying defects and areas of improvement. They will be responsible for maintaining proper records of visits and inspection findings, feeding back to customers and making recommendations to senior managers on any areas needing further actions.
You will hold a HNC building qualification or 5 years equivalent experience in domestic building maintenance and improvements.
Furthermore a proven record as a surveyor and have experience in general building repairs and structural works and overseeing various damp and mould projects is essenial.
You will be visiting customers homes daily to identify repairs required; explaining to the customer what work is required and what can be done to alleviate the issues they are experiencing; with a focus on providing a high standard of customer care. Keep customers informed about the programme and, where appropriate, ensure that the contractor maintains good liaison with the customer.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
