Stirling Court Hotel, located within the beautiful University of Stirling campus, is a busy, conference-led hotel offering accommodation, meetings, and events. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional guest experiences across all areas of our operation.
We are now looking for a Duty Manager with a strong Food & Beverage background to join our management team and play a key role in the smooth day-to-day running of the hotel.
The Role
As Duty Manager, you will act as the senior leader on shift, ensuring the efficient operation of all departments and delivering an outstanding guest experience.
A key focus of this role is driving high standards within our Food & Beverage operation, supporting service delivery, team performance, and guest satisfaction across restaurants, bars, and event catering.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Take full responsibility for hotel operations during your shift
- Oversee all departments with particular focus on Food & Beverage service standards and delivery
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service
- Lead shift briefings, handovers, and daily checks
Guest Experience
- Deliver exceptional customer service across all areas, especially within restaurant, bar, and event dining experiences
- Handle guest queries and resolve any issues professionally
- Manage VIP arrivals, group check-ins, and special requests
- Ensure consistent service across accommodation and F&B outlets
Food & Beverage Focus
- Support and oversee the day-to-day F&B operation, ensuring smooth service during busy periods
- Work closely with kitchen and service teams to deliver high-quality dining experiences
- Monitor service standards, team efficiency, and guest feedback within F&B areas
- Drive upselling and revenue opportunities across food and drink offerings
Meetings & Events
- Ensure meeting and event spaces are set up correctly and on time
- Oversee event catering and hospitality delivery, ensuring a seamless guest experience
- Work closely with Events, AV, and Catering teams during conferences and functions
Team Leadership
- Supervise and support team members across all departments
- Provide coaching and guidance, particularly within Food & Beverage teams
- Promote a positive, guest-focused culture
- Ensure effective communication across departments
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Act as the responsible person on duty for H&S and security
- Ensure compliance with food safety and licensing regulations
- Conduct safety and compliance checks
- Respond to incidents and emergencies as required
Financial & Commercial Awareness
- Control labour, costs, and waste during shifts, with attention to F&B margins and efficiency
- Drive revenue through upselling across rooms, meetings, and F&B
- Authorise refunds and comps within guidelines
Administration
- Complete shift reports and maintain accurate records
- Communicate maintenance and operational issues
- Ensure systems are kept up to date
About You
Proven experience in a supervisory or Duty Manager role within hospitality
Strong Food & Beverage background with experience managing or supervising service
Experience working in a hotel with meetings and events
Strong knowledge of both Front Office and F&B operations
Ability to lead F&B teams during busy service periods
Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
Calm, confident, and solutions-focused under pressure
Good understanding of UK food safety, licensing, and health & safety regulations
Desirable:
- Experience in a conference-led or corporate hotel
- Knowledge of hotel PMS or event systems
- First Aid or Fire Marshal certification

Working Hours
This is a shift-based role, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. You will be highly visible across the hotel and occasionally responsible for lone management cover.
Pay: From £30,000.00 per year
