About Us

FPT Manufacturing is a growing fabrication and manufacturing company specialising in high-quality metal fabrication and engineering solutions for a wide range of industries. Due to continued expansion, we are looking for a motivated and organised Purchasing Assistant to support our procurement and operations team.

The Role

The Purchasing Assistant will play a key role in ensuring materials, consumables, and services are ordered efficiently and delivered on time to support production schedules. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative and organisational skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Raising and processing purchase orders
Liaising with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, and delivery schedules
Monitoring stock levels and assisting with inventory control
Maintaining accurate purchasing records and supplier databases
Supporting the production and fabrication teams with material requirements
Comparing supplier quotes to achieve best value and lead times
Following up on late deliveries and resolving supply issues
Assisting with goods-in documentation and invoice queries
Ensuring compliance with company purchasing procedures

Requirements

Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement, or administrative role preferred
Experience within manufacturing, engineering, or fabrication environments advantageous
Strong organisational and communication skills
Good attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload
Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Experience using ERP/MRP systems beneficial
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
