Accountant Apprentice

Location: Saxmundham
Salary: Competitive apprenticeship salary, dependent on age and applicable apprenticeship minimum wage rates.
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday

Are you organised, detail-oriented, and eager to build a successful career in finance? We are looking for a motivated Accountant Apprentice to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience while studying towards a recognised accountancy qualification.

No previous accounting experience is required – just enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude.

What You'll Be Doing

Assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
Supporting senior accountants in gathering and reviewing financial records for year-end reporting
Reconciling balance sheet accounts and investigating discrepancies
Preparing working papers and schedules to support statutory accounts preparation
Assisting with accruals, prepayments, and journal entries
Reviewing client bookkeeping records and identifying missing information
Liaising with clients to request year-end documentation and supporting evidence
Supporting the preparation of corporation tax computations and related schedules
Learning how to interpret financial statements and accounting standards
Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with deadlines and regulatory requirements

What We're Looking For

Strong numeracy and attention to detail
Good communication and organisational skills
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
A positive attitude and willingness to learn
GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English, Grade 4/C or above preferred
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
