Full-time preferred, although part-time will be considered for an exceptional candidate.
Join a growing, modern accountancy practice.
At Directive Finance, we're passionate about helping ambitious business owners build profitable, sustainable businesses.
We're a modern, cloud-based accountancy practice providing bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, accounts, tax and outsourced finance support to SMEs across Oxfordshire and beyond.
As our client base continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Practice Accountant (Tax & Accounts) to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys preparing accounts and tax returns, building strong client relationships and becoming a key member of a growing practice where quality, collaboration and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.
The Role
You'll manage your own portfolio of clients, preparing and reviewing accounts and tax returns while providing proactive support and advice.
Working closely with the wider team, you'll ensure work is completed accurately, deadlines are met and clients receive the high level of service we're known for.

- Reviewing VAT returns before submission
- Preparing P11Ds and Benefits in Kind
- Managing HMRC correspondence and enquiries
- Supporting clients with day-to-day tax and accounting queries
- Reviewing work completed by junior members of the team
- Monitoring tax deadlines across your client portfolio
- Identifying tax planning opportunities where appropriate
- Supporting the rollout of Making Tax Digital
- Contributing to continuous improvement across the practice
What We're Looking For
You'll ideally have:
- Recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice
- Experience preparing statutory annual accounts
- Experience preparing Corporation Tax and Self Assessment returns
- AAT, ATT, ACA or ACCA qualification (or qualified by experience)
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- Experience using Xero and other cloud accounting software
- A proactive attitude and a genuine desire to help clients succeed
This role isn't suitable for someone looking to move into practice for the first time.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first few months you'll:
- Confidently manage your own portfolio of clients
- Deliver accounts and tax returns accurately and on time
- Build trusted relationships with clients
- Identify opportunities to improve processes
- Support the wider team with technical knowledge
- Help maintain the high standards our clients expect
Why Join Directive Finance?
