The business has grown rapidly and continues to expand across gas, renewables, servicing, care plans and commercial works. We are now looking for a strong Operations Manager to help lead the next stage of growth.
The Role
This is a hands-on operational leadership role for someone with strong heating industry experience who can lead people, improve processes and help drive the business forward.
The role will predominantly focus on the company’s gas operations across service, repair, maintenance and installations, while also overseeing the wider operational performance of the renewables department alongside our Heating Specialist.
You will oversee engineers, planners and office staff while ensuring high standards are maintained across operations, customer experience, Health & Safety, engineer performance and operational efficiency.
This is not a purely office-based management role. We are looking for someone who leads from the front, builds strong relationships with engineers and staff, creates team spirit and takes ownership of operational performance.
You will report directly to the Managing Director and become a key part of the company’s long-term growth and leadership structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing engineers & planners
- Overseeing daily operations across service, repair, maintenance and installation departments
- Leading the operational side of the company’s gas division
- Supporting and overseeing the renewables operation alongside the Heating Specialist
- Improving engineer utilisation and operational efficiency
- Managing ServiceM8 workflows and operational processes
- Monitoring KPIs and department performance
- Handling escalations and customer complaints professionally
- Surveying and quoting for domestic and commercial gas installation works
- Carrying out quality control checks on completed works
- Assisting with purchasing and procurement of materials and equipment
- Overseeing engineer vans, tools and specialist equipment to ensure engineers are fully equipped and operational
- Supporting and managing Health & Safety standards and compliance across the business
- Running toolbox talks and operational meetings
- Supporting engineer recruitment and onboarding
- Driving accountability, standards and team culture
- Supporting the continued growth of the company
- Improving systems, structure and internal processes
- Overseeing care plan operations and growth
- Supporting both domestic and commercial operations
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Previous experience within the heating industry
- Strong technical understanding of domestic and commercial gas systems
- Experience surveying and quoting heating installation works
- Experience managing engineers or operational teams
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Good understanding of service, repair and installation operations
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving SME environment
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Good systems and process management ability
- Experience managing Health & Safety responsibilities
- Full UK driving licence
- Computer literate
Preferred:
- Previous trade background
- Experience with ServiceM8 or similar operating systems
- Exposure to renewables or low-carbon heating technologies

Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 8:00am – 5:00pm
- 42.5 hours per week
- 30-minute lunch break
- Office based with site visits as required
- Duty manager on-call rota (approximately 1 in 4)
