Morris + Blunt, an established principal contractor with over 30 years of experience across Reading and the Thames Valley, is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to join our growing team. With a strong reputation in the commercial, residential, education, sport, and leisure sectors, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality projects with precision and care.

About the Role
As Construction Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of our larger commercial projects, alongside some smaller projects, from inception through to completion. You will play a key leadership role across site setup, health and safety, project delivery, and client liaison, while managing both subcontractors and directly employed tradespeople. This is an office based role, which will require regular site visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Full responsibility for site setup, programming, and on-site management of larger commercial projects.
- Manage project timelines, ensuring key milestones and deadlines are met.
- Oversee and responsible for all aspects of Risk and health & safety compliance, including documentation and site practices.
- Assist Project Managers with the running of smaller projects.
- Producing and maintaining variations schedules.
- Uphold and enforce quality control standards across all projects.
- Project material and labour procurement.
- Provide clear, detailed and regular progress reports to clients and senior management.
- Liaise with building control officers and other regulatory bodies.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors and directly employed tradespeople.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date site records and production/maintenance of RFI schedules.
- Lead smooth and professional site handovers on project completion.
- Support the business in forecasting, retention matters, and long-term project planning
- Accurate project cost control
What We’re Looking For
- Proven track record as a Construction Manager or Senior Project Manager in a main contracting environment.
- Experience delivering projects in commercial, residential, education or leisure sectors.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building regulations, and health and safety legislation.
- Confident in managing both on-site teams and subcontractors.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Applicants should have solid IT knowledge, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
