Description and Requirements

This role can be performed on a fully remote basis.

Lenovo Global Financial Services (LGFS) is the financing and leasing arm of Lenovo's Solutions and Services Group, supporting some of the world's most complex technology and AI-driven deployments across regulated and semi-regulated markets. We are looking for an experienced Senior Financial Regulatory Counsel to serve as the dedicated legal and regulatory expert within LGFS — a first-of-its-kind role that carries genuine ownership, strategic influence, and senior stakeholder visibility.

This is a senior, strategic position working closely with Legal, Compliance, Treasury, Credit and Finance teams globally. The role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis and can be performed primarily remotely, with approximately one day per month in a UK office as requested by the hiring manager. International travel is minimal — approximately once per year.

Key Responsibilities

Provide senior-level, strategic legal and regulatory advice to support LGFS's global leasing, asset-finance and cross-border financing activities, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and applicable regulatory requirements.
Lead regulatory assessments, licensing analysis and market-entry initiatives to support Lenovo's global expansion strategy, including entry into new regulated markets and scaling of existing platforms.
Act as the primary legal point of contact for engagement with regulators, supervisory authorities and external counsel across multiple jurisdictions, managing regulatory queries and inspections as required.
Partner with the Compliance function on AML, KYC and ABC-related matters, serving as a dedicated legal advisor to LGFS on compliance considerations across all operating markets.
Collaborate with transactional lawyers to structure, review and negotiate complex cross-border financing, leasing and receivables-funding arrangements, including transactions supporting large-scale AI and infrastructure deployments.
Identify emerging regulatory risks relevant to LGFS's operating model and define pragmatic, business-aligned mitigations; contribute to the development of regulatory playbooks, internal frameworks and governance policies.
Lead or support complex commercial negotiations with enterprise customers, financial institutions and external partners, shaping outcomes that appropriately balance legal risk with commercial priorities.
Drive knowledge-sharing and capability development within the wider LGFS Legal team by contributing to team initiatives, cross-functional workshops, and the continuous improvement of internal legal standards and documentation.

Required Experience & Skills

Qualified solicitor or equivalent legal professional in a common-law jurisdiction, with a minimum of 12 years' post-qualification experience specialising in financial regulation, asset finance law or structured finance.
Deep familiarity with financial-services regulatory frameworks — including licensing, conduct requirements and regulatory change — or substantial experience advising on asset-finance and leasing transactions within a regulated banking or financial-services environment.
Demonstrated background in banking, captive finance or financial services, ideally within an OEM captive finance arm or large international financial institution (e.g., DFS, HP Financial Services, DLL, Lombard, or equivalent).
Proven experience with cross-border leasing, asset finance, equipment finance or receivables finance, including the ability to independently draft, structure and negotiate finance and security documents across multiple jurisdictions.
Track record of managing regulatory change implementation projects, developing master template documentation, and creating or enhancing internal procedures, frameworks and governance standards.
Experience engaging directly with regulators or supervisory authorities, including managing regulatory inspections, licensing applications or formal engagement processes, is highly desirable.
Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; excellent communication and cultural-awareness skills to engage effectively with senior stakeholders across a global, matrixed organisation.
Senior-level commercial judgment, strong risk awareness and a solutions-oriented mindset; experience using legal AI software and managing external counsel across multiple jurisdictions is advantageous.
