Full job description

Main purpose of the job:

To teach small groups of young people (Key Stage1, 2, 3, 4), responding to their individual needs. Key stage depends on the specific tutor role.
To plan for young people to make progress with their personalised curriculum offer and assess this progress using systems identified by the provision.
Improve the quality of learning and foster the participation of students in setting with their social, emotional and mental health, personal development.
To work with the directors in establishing and implementing strategies to support pupils with managing and regulating their behaviour in a positive way.

Personal Attributes and Professional Competencies:

To understand and comply with the setting’s Child Protection Policy/Guidelines (Including KCSIE 2025).
To be able to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post in compliance with the provision’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
To understand and comply with the setting’s Health and Safety Policy in the performance of their duties and responsibilities and share with appropriate staff within setting.
To understand and comply with all other relevant setting policies.
To maintain confidentiality and observe GDPR and associated guidelines where appropriate, being responsible for whole setting data protection.

· To be able to promote professional co-operation and effective team working within the provision and offer help.

· To be able to contribute to the implementation of the overall aims/ethos work of the provision.

To be able to problem solve and use initiative to meet the daily challenges arising, working flexibly where necessary.
To be able to act with integrity, honesty, loyalty and fairness, always within the limits of professional competence, to safeguard the assets, financial probity and reputation of the school.

· To be able to select and successfully apply different methods for communicating effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

· To behave in a way that represents the provision positively when in the local community.

To be able to carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function, commensurate with the level of responsibilities of the post.

Specific Responsibilities:

· To plan and deliver activities to young people either on a 1:1 or 1:2 basis, along side another member of staff in the provision.

· To support young people with their emotional regulation and their behaviours, which sometimes may be challenging.

· To record progress towards ILP targets.

· To use behaviour systems to record and monitor students.

· To complete risk assessment for activities and amend individual risk assessments.

· To complete weekly and half termly reports for allocated young people, alongside the directors.

· To follow the behaviour policy to support individuals, upholding high expectations and acting consistently with students.

· To communicate with parents and carers as and when necessary

· To follow the policies and procedures in the provision, reporting where necessary with concerns such as safeguarding.

· To complete mandatory training and additional training linked to the role.

· To record progress in sessions on systems used by 4Life Education.

· Any other duties required of you linked to the role.
