A unique opportunity for a creative and highly motivated Head Gardener to work across The Apartment Groups’ Northumberland venues.
Newton Hall has a beautiful and ‘naturalist’ country garden of approximately 8 acres, featuring spiral hedges of willow enclosing specialised plantings to suit the seaside location. Alongside this, the adjacent ‘Garden Cabins’ accommodation has small private gardens to each cabin, within a setting of wild flower areas and shelterbelts. There is also the local Inn, The Shepherds Hut and additional accommodation, each with their own, planted areas.
The private garden in this collection, belongs to the owner and is a very special ‘plantsman’ estate with walled gardens of tropical; ericaceous and trained fruit tree planting alongside two ponds, wildflower and prairie areas, a natural swimming pool, vegetable and fruit garden and horse paddock areas.
Le Petit Chateau also hosts a unique space, based on a structured French layout with a pleached avenue of beech and mixed planting, together with exotics surviving in the unique silt-soil, south-facing and sheltered spot. Outside this garden is a small Potager, supplying the kitchen with edible flowers and a large flood-plain meadow by the river with wildflowers areas home to a multitude of spring fritillaries and cammassia.
We are seeking a truly hands-on and passionate individual, who has a thorough base of plant knowledge and garden skills, with a proven track record of capability and dedication to the craft.
The role will be supported by two full time venue gardeners and on-site maintenance staff at all locations and guided by the Groups’ Head of Facilities and the teams’ designer.
A clean driving licence is essential.
Salary 35-40K Depending on experience
Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
