Are you an experienced Shunter looking for your next opportunity? Do you want to play a vital role in keeping our transport operation running smoothly by safely moving trailers around the yard and ensuring efficient loading and unloading. If you're reliable, safety-focused, and ready to join a dynamic team, we want to hear from you!

Here at GXO Stoke on Trent we are recruiting for a Shunter to join our team. If you are looking for a new challenge and the chance to join a company that will truly help you develop your career, this could be the perfect opportunity for you! As a Shunter, you’ll be working on a full-time, permanent basis, on a ‘4 on 4 off’ shift pattern, covering the hours of 16:00 to 04:00. Occasional flexibility to work day shifts (04:00 to 16:00) will be required in line with business needs.

As a Shunter, you’ll receive:

An annual salary of £36,972.24
An additional £1 per hour, for hours worked between 22:00 and 06:00

What you’ll do on a typical day:

Safely manoeuvre trailers and vehicles around the yard, using a shunter vehicle, ensuring smooth and efficient site operations
Position trailers onto bays in readiness for loading and unloading, maintaining yard organisation at all times
Carry out daily vehicle and equipment checks, reporting any defects, damage, or wear and tear promptly
Work closely with warehouse, transport, and site teams to ensure health & safety procedures and operational requirements are consistently met

What you need to succeed at GXO:

HGV Class 1 (C+E) driving licence
Valid Driver CPC and digital tachograph cards
No more than six penalty points on your licence (no TT, DD, DR, DG, BA, AC, LC or CD endorsements)
Previous shunting experience is desirable, but full training can be provided
