Matthew Marsden Furniture Ltd is looking for an experienced CNC & Edge Bander Operator to join our expanding team at our workshops in Tarleton, Preston.
With a strong and growing order book, we manufacture high-end bespoke kitchens, cabinetry and luxury furniture for prestigious residential projects throughout the UK.
We are looking for someone who takes genuine pride in their work and understands the accuracy and attention to detail required when producing furniture to a premium standard.
This is not simply a CNC operator position. You will be an important part of our workshop team and will be expected to work across CNC, edge banding and other woodworking machinery as required.

The Role
You will be responsible for producing accurately machined and edged components ready for our cabinet makers and assembly team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Setting and operating CNC machinery to accurately machine sheet materials and furniture components
- Operating our automatic edge bander to achieve consistently high-quality edges and finishes
- Operating other woodworking machinery and equipment within the workshop as required
- Cutting, machining, edging and preparing components to production drawings and specifications
- Checking dimensions and ensuring components are produced accurately
- Carrying out quality checks before components move to the next stage of production
- Organising components and maintaining an efficient workflow
- Identifying machining or quality issues before they affect production
- Looking after machinery and keeping your working area clean and organised
- Working closely with our cabinet makers, designers and wider production team
You should be comfortable working across different areas of the workshop rather than being limited solely to CNC operation.
Who We're Looking For
Ideally, you will have experience operating CNC machinery and/or automatic edge banding equipment within the furniture, joinery, kitchen or woodworking industry.
Experience with other woodworking machinery would also be a strong advantage.
You should be:
- Experienced with CNC or woodworking machinery
- Comfortable using a range of woodworking machinery and workshop equipment
- Confident working accurately from drawings and production information
- Comfortable working with high-quality sheet materials and furniture components
- Able to work independently and take responsibility for your work
- Reliable, organised and self-motivated
- Focused on both quality and productivity
- Flexible and willing to work across different areas of production when required
- Someone who takes pride in producing work to a very high standard
- Ambitious and interested in developing your skills and progressing within the company
Experience with both CNC machinery and edge banding would be ideal, although we would consider a strong candidate whose main experience is in one of these areas.
Pay & Hours
£15.00–£19.00 per hour, depending on experience and ability
Approximately £31,200–£39,520 per year based on a 40-hour week
Experienced candidates who can confidently operate the CNC, edge bander and other woodworking machinery will be considered at the top end of the pay range.
40 hours per week
Monday to Friday
8:00am–4:30pm
No regular weekend working.
