Full job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic person to join our fantastic Imaging team as a Senior Support worker.

You will work in the ultrasound department with colleagues to provide the best possible patient care, ensuring equipment is available and maintaining accurate patient records in line with information governance. You will be expected to organize workflow for the area you are working in and assist in minor procedures.

You must be a caring person with empathy for your patients and an understanding of their needs and concerns. You will work along side doctors, advanced practitioners, and other radiographers to support them in examinations and procedures. This is a clinical role which is key to the smooth running of the department. You will be an effective communicator and be flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of the department.

This role will be predominantly based in the ultrasound Dept to include working at the Sharoe Green Unit and at our offsite scan rooms (currently Preston Healthport) as well as Chorley District Hospital and in the ultrasound scan rooms within the main xray department.

This post will involve some regular weekend work, the hours are flexible to some extent within the needs of the department.

You should hold an NVQ level 2 in Health care ( or equivalent) and be prepared to study for the INCS Level 3 qualification within 18 months of appointment.

You will also be expected to complete the Clinical skills Care Certificate as part of your induction unless already completed.

You will be expected to be flexible in your attitude to work as there may be a requirement to work out of hours, at weekends and Bank holidays.

You will work closely with the sonographers, and other members of the team to provide support with stock and support to patients having procedures.

Duties to include, but not be limited to:
Provide good quality personalised care in accordance with agreed local and national standards

Undertake stock duties to ensure that the department has the correct stock levels for ultrasound procedures.

Undertake duties relevant to the clinical area following achievement of competencies

Assist to maintain patient safety, confirming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines

Assist in maintaining standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care

Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals

Contribute to maintaining safe, clean and productive environments, compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness

Actively try to resolve issues and complaints at local level and then report the outcome to line manager

Maintain and develop own competence

Process information according to local and national requirements
