Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Part-Time Finance Assistant to support our finance operations and general office administration at our Alton head office. This role will be responsible for managing and undertaking day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting processes for the business, whilst providing administrative support to ensure financial records, documentation, and internal systems remain accurate and organised.

Responsibilities

Accounts & Bookkeeping

Publishing supplier invoices and receipts from Dext into Xero
Ensuring correct supplier allocation, account coding and VAT treatment
Monitoring and chasing missing invoices or unclear receipts
Identifying duplicates or potential errors before publishing

Bank Reconciliation

Reconciling all bank accounts and finance accounts within Xero
Matching transactions to supplier invoices and customer receipts
Investigating and flagging unknown or incorrect transactions
Ensuring accounts are fully reconciled and up to date

Filing & Records

Maintaining organised filing systems for:
Customer contracts
Finance agreements
Accounting records
Helping maintain organised internal records and documentation
Supporting the Operations Manager with administrative work as required

Month-End Support

Ensuring all invoices are posted before month-end
Ensuring bank reconciliations are complete
Highlighting missing costs or accruals
Reporting any outstanding queries to management

What we're looking for

Previous experience in bookkeeping or accounts administration
Experience with Xero or similar accounting software
Excellent attention to detail
Good organisational skills
Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

This position provides valuable exposure to financial processes within a professional setting, ideal for individuals eager to develop their skills and understanding of finance operations.
