Greenkeeping Apprentice — Alton Golf Club

Alton Golf Club, a member-owned golf club set in the Hampshire countryside, is looking for a Greenkeeping Apprentice to join our grounds team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone starting out in sportsturf and greenkeeping to learn on the job while working towards a recognised land-based apprenticeship qualification, combining practical experience on our course with day-release study at Sparsholt College.

What you'll be doing

Working alongside our experienced greenkeeping team on day-to-day course maintenance — mowing, bunker care, irrigation, and general upkeep
Learning to operate and maintain machinery and equipment safely
Gaining hands-on knowledge of turf management, soil science, and course presentation through the seasons
Supporting special projects such as renovations and course improvements

What we're looking for

A genuine interest in golf course maintenance, horticulture, or the outdoors
Willingness to learn, a strong work ethic, and reliability
Ability to work outdoors in all weathers and as part of a small team
No prior experience necessary — full training provided
