Primary Role
As part of our exciting expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Department Manager to join our growing Operations Team. This pivotal role ensures the seamless day-to-day running of the Audio and Vision departments while collaborating closely with department heads and the Operations Team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining Sterling's renowned reputation for technical artistry and creativity in the live events industry.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- To significantly contribute to the smooth running of the Audio and Vision departments.
- Manage, co-ordinate and delegate daily department tasking as outlined by Operations Team and Head of Department.
- Oversee the preparation and de-preparation of equipment that aligns with the Sterling Standards.
- Oversee the check in process of Dry Hire’s.
- Proactively plan, prioritise and manage upcoming departmental workload, liaising with the Operations Team and Head of Department as required.
- Effectively manage and co-ordinate equipment turnaround lists.
- To oversee and line manage a team of prep technicians, ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained.
- Communicate with the Projects Team to ensure maximum efficiencies are met.
- Communicate regularly with the Operations Team for day-to-day and forward planning whilst actively contributing to the operational and departmental catch ups.
- Working in conjunction with the Head of Department manage and oversee the quarantine process, testing and inspections for the Audio and Vision Departments.
- Working in conjunction with the Head of Department manage, co-ordinate and book radio frequencies.
- Ensure compliance with company health safety policies whilst ensuring departments are kept organized and orderly.
- Manage and process deliveries of department consumables whilst ensuring efficient and organized storage.
- Assist other departments, perform other duties as needed and undertake other tasks as directed by the Operations Team to support the overall success of the company.

- Strong IT skills
- In depth technical knowledge of Audio and Vision equipment
- PAT Test knowledge
- Familiar with Shure Wireless Workbench and PMSE

Working Hours
If you have the experience we are looking for then you will already know that this is not a 9 ‘til 5 job. Due to the nature of our industry, we require our employees to have a flexible approach to their working hours. Weekend work may be required.
