Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, cooking, and delivering exceptional hospitality experiences. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills within a professional kitchen environment, supporting senior chefs and contributing to the day to day service. The position is paid and suitable for individuals eager to advance their career in the hospitality industry.

Responsibilities

Assist in food preparation and cooking under the supervision of senior chefs for larger numbers, ensuring consistency and quality.
Lone working on occasion for basic food services and preparation.
Support food production processes, including ingredient organisation and portioning.
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in line with health regulations.
Contribute to the presentation of dishes, ensuring they meet the establishment’s standards.
Help manage kitchen cleanliness, including cleaning utensils, equipment, and work stations.
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service periods.
Support in supervising junior staff or trainees when required, fostering a positive team environment.
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents or hazards in the kitchen.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a kitchen environment or hospitality setting is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for motivated candidates.
Demonstrable knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
Basic cooking skills with an understanding of food preparation techniques.
Experience in food production, restaurant service, or catering is advantageous.
Strong team management skills and leadership qualities are desirable for career progression.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service times.
Passion for culinary arts and a commitment to delivering high-quality customer experiences.
