Full job description

The Accuracy Checking Technician (ACT) is responsible for performing the final accuracy check of dispensed prescriptions to ensure medicines supplied to patients are correct and safe. The ACT supports the pharmacist by maintaining high standards of dispensing accuracy, contributing to efficient pharmacy workflow, and ensuring compliance with legal and professional requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform the final accuracy check of dispensed prescriptions once clinically screened by the pharmacist.
Ensure the correct medicine, strength, form, quantity, and labelling have been dispensed.
Verify patient details and prescription instructions before medicines are supplied.
Identify and escalate discrepancies or concerns to the responsible pharmacist.
Final Accuracy check of MDS medication.
Assisting in weekly CD checks

Dispensing Support

Assist in the dispensing process when required, including assembling and labelling prescriptions.
Maintain organised dispensing workflow to improve efficiency and patient safety.
Ensure prescriptions are prepared in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.

Patient Safety & Governance

Maintain high standards of accuracy, safety, and confidentiality.
Follow pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.
Participate in error reporting and learning processes.
Ensure safe handling and storage of medicines.

Stock Control

Assist with ordering, receiving, and managing pharmaceutical stock.

Patient & Team Support

Support the pharmacy team in delivering excellent customer and patient care.
Work collaboratively with pharmacists, technicians, and dispensers.
Assist in maintaining a clean, organised, and professional pharmacy environment.

Further Development Opportunities

Enrolment to courses in order to provide services in our new second consultation room

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

Qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Accredited Accuracy Checking Technician (ACT) qualification.
Experience working in a community pharmacy setting.
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Desirable:

Experience with PharmacyX PMR system
Knowledge of NHS prescription processes.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
