About Andover Trees United (ATU)
Andover Trees United is an award-winning, volunteer-led environmental charity with a mission to educate, engage and empower people of all ages to take positive action for nature, biodiversity and the environment.
Since 2011, ATU has worked in partnership with schools, local authorities, businesses, artists, community groups and volunteers to deliver hands-on projects in conservation, climate education, biodiversity restoration and community regeneration.
Our work includes woodland creation and management, environmental education, volunteering, youth engagement and biodiversity initiatives such as our Disappearing Wildflowers campaign. Through projects across Harmony Woods, Diamond Wood and the wider community, we aim to reconnect people with nature and inspire long-term environmental stewardship.
As ATU enters an exciting new phase of growth, we are seeking a passionate and proactive communications professional to help amplify our voice, strengthen awareness of our mission and grow our supporter and membership community.
This role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for sustainability, biodiversity and community-led environmental action. The successful candidate may already work freelance or within the environmental, charity, education or creative sectors and be looking for a flexible role alongside other projects or may wish to make this a standalone contract position.
Purpose of the Role
The Communications, PR & Membership Lead will take responsibility for developing and delivering a clear and engaging communications strategy that strengthens ATU’s profile, brand identity and public voice.
The successful candidate will lead publicity and PR activity, grow audience engagement, support membership recruitment and retention, coordinate supporter communications and help showcase the impact of ATU’s work across environmental education, biodiversity and community conservation.
This role will play an important part in inspiring people of all ages to connect with nature and take positive action for climate and biodiversity.
Article 12.8 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals states that by 2030, people everywhere should have the relevant information and awareness for sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature. This role directly contributes to that ambition by ensuring ATU’s messaging is clear, compelling and far-reaching.
