Senior Project Manager -

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Project Manager to lead complex engineering projects from contract award through to design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and final handover.
This role sits within a specialist engineering and manufacturing environment delivering bespoke, high-value technical solutions across sectors such as data centres, utilities, industrial infrastructure and standby power systems throughout the UK and Europe.
As the business continues to expand its UK and European project capability, this position plays a key role in ensuring successful end-to-end project delivery across multiple concurrent programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for assigned projects from handover through to completion and customer sign-off
- Manage multiple engineering and manufacturing projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery against scope, programme, budget and quality requirements
- Develop, maintain and control project programmes, plans, risk registers, action logs and reporting documentation
- Act as the main point of contact for customers, consultants, suppliers and internal teams throughout the full project lifecycle
- Lead project kick-off meetings, design reviews, progress meetings and project close-out sessions
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality assurance, logistics, installation and commissioning activities
- Monitor project budgets, variations, cost movements, margins and commercial performance
- Identify and manage risks, delays, technical issues and change requests, escalating where required
- Ensure all technical documentation, drawings, specifications, inspection records and handover packs are completed accurately and on time
- Support procurement and supplier coordination to ensure materials and subcontract packages align with programme requirements
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards across all project activities
- Support delivery across UK and European operations, including occasional travel to site and manufacturing locations
- Provide clear and consistent reporting to senior leadership on progress, risks, costs and key decisions
- Contribute to continuous improvement across project delivery, processes, communication and customer satisfaction

- Strong communicator with the ability to build effective relationships with customers and internal teams
- Technically confident and able to understand engineered systems and project constraints
- Commercially aware with experience managing cost, scope, programme and risk
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Able to remain calm under pressure and make practical decisions
- Comfortable working across multiple locations and travelling when required
- Proactive, accountable and driven by successful project delivery
Essential Experience
- Proven experience delivering complex projects within engineering, manufacturing, construction, power generation, electrical/mechanical systems or critical infrastructure
- Experience managing bespoke or engineered-to-order project environments
- Strong knowledge of project planning, budgeting, risk management, change control and stakeholder management
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and contractual documentation
- Experience managing customer relationships and senior stakeholders
- Commercial awareness including cost control, variations, margins and contractual obligations
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Experience managing multiple live projects simultaneously
- Competent with Microsoft Office and project planning tools such as Microsoft Project or equivalent
- Willingness to travel within the UK and Europe
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Experience
- Experience in power generation systems, switchgear, control systems, acoustic enclosures, modular builds or data centre infrastructure
- Previous experience working on European projects
- Knowledge of relevant compliance and safety frameworks including construction site regulations and project delivery standards
- Experience managing subcontractors, installation teams and commissioning activities
- Familiarity with ISO management systems including quality, environmental and health and safety standards
- Understanding of NEC, JCT or similar contract frameworks
- Project management certification or formal training in structured methodologies
- Engineering or construction-related qualifications
Qualifications
Formal qualifications are welcome but not essential. Equal value will be given to proven experience delivering complex engineering projects and strong commercial project leadership.
Relevant qualifications may include:
- APM Project Management Qualification or equivalent
- PRINCE2 Practitioner
- PMP certification
- HNC, HND or degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline
- IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS or equivalent safety qualification
- CSCS or equivalent site competency card
- NEC or contract management training (advantageous)
Working Hours
37.5 hours per week:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
- Friday: 8:00am – 1:30pm
The business is closed on UK bank holidays and operates a full shutdown over the Christmas and New Year period.
