Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Pipe Layer / Groundworker to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for laying pipes and preparing groundworks in accordance with project specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of excavation, pipe installation, and ground preparation, with the ability to operate various tools and machinery safely and efficiently. Responsibilities
- Excavate trenches and prepare ground surfaces for pipe installation using hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as excavators
- Lay pipes accurately according to engineering plans and specifications
- Connect, weld, and secure pipes as required, ensuring proper alignment and sealing
- Operate mechanical equipment including excavators and other heavy machinery safely
- Use hand tools and power tools for cutting, shaping, and fitting pipes and ground materials
- Conduct basic maintenance checks on tools and machinery to ensure operational safety
- Assist with the installation of electrical components related to pipe systems where applicable
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times to maintain a safe working environment
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects
Requirements
- Proven experience in pipe laying or groundworks within the construction industry
- Mechanical knowledge with experience operating excavators or similar machinery preferred
- Welding skills are desirable but not essential; training can be provided for suitable candidates
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for construction tasks
- Basic electrical experience or understanding is advantageous
- Strong safety awareness with the ability to follow safety protocols diligently
- Good physical fitness, capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Relevant certifications or licences (e.g., CSCS card) are preferred but not mandatory; training can be provided for the right candidate
