The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and ambitious Graduate Project Manager to join a growing civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across sectors including highways, utilities, rail, groundworks, structural concrete and public realm.
This role is ideal for a recent graduate looking to develop a long-term career in construction project management. Working alongside experienced Project Managers and senior operational teams, you'll receive hands-on training and exposure to all aspects of project delivery, with clear progression opportunities within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, coordination and successful delivery of multiple construction and infrastructure projects.
- Assist Project Managers with project planning, scheduling and resource coordination.
- Attend client, design and progress meetings, recording minutes and tracking actions.
- Monitor project programmes, key milestones and deliverables.
- Assist with procurement of subcontractors, plant, materials and equipment.
- Coordinate information between site teams, suppliers, consultants and clients.
- Monitor project progress, identifying potential risks and assisting with mitigation strategies.
- Support commercial activities including cost tracking, variations and project reporting.
- Assist in preparing project documentation including method statements, programmes and reports.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
- Build positive working relationships with clients, consultants and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Degree in Construction Project Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying or a related construction discipline.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive approach with a genuine willingness to learn.
- Full UK Driving Licence or working towards obtaining one.
Desirable
- Previous industry placement or internship within construction or civil engineering.
- Understanding of construction project lifecycles.
- Knowledge of NEC or JCT contracts.
- Awareness of Health & Safety legislation within construction.
- Experience using Microsoft Project, Asta Powerproject or similar planning software.
- CSCS Card.
