Role Purpose
As a Paralegal – Family, you are responsible for supporting the effective delivery of residential conveyancing services across the department.
You will assist with the progression of Family matters, provide professional support to clients, maintain compliance with Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) requirements, and ensure matters are handled efficiently, accurately and in accordance with internal procedures.
You take ownership of allocated tasks, client communication, legal documentation and administrative support, ensuring clients receive a professional and responsive service throughout the transaction lifecycle.
You will work closely with Fee Earners, Senior Paralegals and wider support teams to ensure transactions progress efficiently and compliantly.
Core Responsibilities
Client & Case Management
- Support the management of family law files under supervision
- Take client instructions accurately and professionally
- Maintain regular communication with clients, other side solicitors, and third parties
- Draft legal correspondence and standard legal documentation
- Raise and respond to enquiries under supervision
- Deliver a professional and responsive client service at all times
Legal & Technical Responsibilities
- Ensure legal work is completed accurately and in accordance with family law procedures
- Review financial documentation and any other documentation relating to the matter under supervision
- Maintain compliant and organised case files
- Escalate legal, procedural or compliance concerns appropriately
- Support Fee Earners and Senior Paralegals with legal and administrative tasks
Compliance & Risk Management
- Support compliance with AML, source of funds, risk assessment and file management requirements
- Maintain accurate attendance notes and case records
- Ensure confidentiality and GDPR obligations are upheld at all times
- Maintain accurate time recording and task management
- Support the department in maintaining audit-ready files and documentation
- Ensure key transaction deadlines and compliance obligations are managed effectively
Team Support & Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure continuity of client service
- Maintain positive working relationships across departments
- Seek support, guidance and supervision appropriately
- Contribute positively towards departmental culture and performance
- Support team members where appropriate

Skills & Knowledge
- Law Degree, LPC, SQE studies or equivalent legal qualification desirable but not essential
- Experience working within a family law environment
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Experience using legal case management systems desirable
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to build professional relationships with clients and colleagues
