Goods Outwards – Joinery Manufacturing

Role Overview

The Goods Outwards Operative is responsible for preparing, wrapping, organising, and dispatching finished joinery products from the workshop. This role ensures that every item leaves the premises safely packaged, accurately documented, and ready for delivery to customers or installation teams.

Key Responsibilities

Wrapping & Preparing Joinery for Dispatch

Wrap and protect finished joinery items using appropriate materials (foam, correx, shrink wrap, edge protectors, crates).
Ensure all products are packaged securely to prevent damage during transport, especially bespoke or fragile components.
Follow company standards for wrapping and presentation to maintain a professional finish.

Dispatch & Loading

Prepare goods for collection, ensuring items are clearly labelled and matched to delivery notes.
Assist with loading vehicles safely and efficiently, using correct manual handling techniques.
Coordinate with drivers and couriers when goods are ready for dispatch.

Product Handling & Quality Checks

Inspect finished items before wrapping to confirm they meet order specifications and quality standards.
Report any defects, missing components, or discrepancies to the production team.

Inventory & Storage

Organise finished goods in the dispatch area, keeping items accessible, labelled, and protected.
Maintain accurate records of goods leaving the workshop.
Monitor stock levels of wrapping materials and packaging supplies.

Process & Compliance

Complete delivery notes, labels, and dispatch documentation accurately.
Follow health & safety procedures, including manual handling and safe use of tools/equipment.
Keep the goods-out area clean, tidy, and compliant with company standards.

Skills & Experience Required

Experience in a manufacturing, joinery, carpentry, or warehouse environment.
Strong attention to detail, especially when wrapping and protecting finished products.
Ability to read basic joinery drawings or product labels (advantageous).
Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling of timber products.
Forklift licence beneficial but not essential as training would be given.
Computer literate to produce delivery tickets and reading of drawings
Good communication skills and a reliable, organised working style.
Overtime when required
