The short version
We're a small, brand-led creative studio doing work we're proud of, and we've hit the specific ceiling that ambitious small studios hit. There's more good work than we can get to, and the work we do take on costs more than it should, because everything routes through too few heads. We're looking for a producer to change that: someone who can hold the whole picture, turn instinct into a plan, and make it possible for the right people to do their best work without it all living in one person's head.
This is the role we've realised we can't outsource. It's the one that makes everything else possible.
What we believe
We think the agencies that win the AI era are the ones that produce work with soul, at speed. Not service, work. Raw, real, original. We'd rather photograph a surface and strip it back to build a texture than pull one off a shelf. Build the asset, shoot the reference, then apply the motion. Start from an idea, never a template. Original thought, all the time.
We move fast. Honestly, we get more done in a week than most big agencies manage in a month, because there are no lanes here. It's teams clubbing in together, real creative collaboration, everyone on the thing at once. Anything is possible at D.O.D, and that's not a slogan, it's how the work actually gets made.
That intensity is our edge. It's also the thing that only works if someone's holding it together, which is exactly why this role exists. We're not looking for someone to slow us down. We're looking for someone who lets us keep the pace and keep the people.
What's actually going on (the honest version)
We work fast, fluid, and led by feel, exploration first, system later. That's why the work is good. But it means a brief often doesn't exist on paper until the work is nearly there, context lives in heads rather than on a page, and anyone we bring in to make gets dropped in without the scaffolding to succeed. So we redo, double up, and rescue, flat out but not profitable.
We don't need more hands making things. We need someone to build the connective tissue: pull what's in our heads out, get the scope and the brief down where everyone can see it, and hold the plan so the work can flow.
What this isn't
This isn't a traffic manager role. It's not about moving jobs along a line, chasing status, and keeping a schedule tidy. That work matters, but it's downstream of the problem we actually have.
The problem is upstream: the thinking, the scope, and the brief don't exist on paper yet. We need someone who can get into the work, pull the idea out of people's heads, and shape it into something the whole studio can see and build from. Closer to a creative partner who produces than a producer who administers.
What you'd own
- Getting the brief and scope out of people's heads and onto the page, before the making starts, not after. This is the heart of the job.
- Holding the full picture across projects: what's live, what's next, what's blocked, visible, daily.
- Running client cadence and status, so progress is seen rather than chased.
- Directing freelance and specialist makers: briefing them properly, protecting them, making sure work doesn't come back to be redone.
- Turning our exploratory, feel-led process into something legible and priceable, without flattening what makes it ours.
Who you are
- You come from brand and creative, seriously. This isn't scheduling with a creative gloss; you need to speak the language deeply enough that people trust you with what's in their heads.
- You'd rather build than borrow. The idea of making a texture from a photograph of a real surface excites you more than finding the perfect stock asset. You start from thinking, not from templates.
- You believe strategy and brand are inseparable: strategy leads the idea, brand brings it to life, and the good stuff lives in the layers, medium, purpose, meaning, context, all considered at every touchpoint, all pulling toward one system because it came from the same minds.
- You think context-first, designing for the specific thing rather than defaulting to a brand system or a category template. (We'd call it contextually fluent.)
- You're open to a process that's fluid before it's fixed. You can hold ambiguity and bring order to it without killing it.
- You thrive in a fast, collaborative, no-lanes environment, and you're the kind of person who brings order to intensity rather than either drowning in it or grinding it flat. You make speed sustainable, not slower.
- You light up at protecting the work and the people making it, not just hitting dates.
Why this role, here
Get this right and you're not a cog in the machine, you're the reason it runs. You'll be the person who lets a small studio produce raw, original, considered work and do it at a pace that's actually sustainable. If taking something genuinely good and making it fast without making it generic is the kind of problem you want, this is it.
