Information about the post.

Hope View School are seeking to appoint a full time behaviour support assistant to work with our experienced behaviour support team at our Lower School site in Chartham, from the 1st September 2026. Experience of working as a teaching assistant within schools would be advantageous. The site is in a rural location with no public transport links therefore own transport is essential.

Experience of working with pupils with Special Educational Needs would be an advantage but is not essential. Willingness to work within a small team and an organised but flexible approach is crucial. High standards of behaviour management, professionalism and resiliance are essential. High expectations of pupils are also required as is the ability to be empathetic, understanding and supportive of pupils and their needs. This position would be ideal for a dynamic, hard-working and committed individual looking to build a career in this sector.

Post requirements:

The successful applicant will need to possess the following qualities:

A supportive and empathetic approach to working with behaviours that challenge.

Relevant experience working as a teaching assistant within an educational setting.

An excellent standard of literacy, numeracy and IT skills.

GCSE (or equivalent) English, maths and IT at grades “C” or above.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a small team.

An understanding of the ethos of the school and the ability to work within this ethos in order to support and develop all pupils regardless of ability, education, behavioural, social or emotional needs.

A willingness to play a full part in the life of the school with regard to supporting in lessons including outdoor education, PE, pastoral care, curriculum enrichment activities and building positive relationships with pupils and staff alike.

An understanding of the importance of the need for safeguarding the health and well being of all pupils within the school. Upholding the school’s policies and procedures with regard to child protection and safeguarding is an essential requirement.

The successful applicant will undertake a period of induction/supervision which will be overseen by their Line Manager including a 6 month probationary period.

Please note that to comply with Safeguarding legislation, all shortlisted applicants are required to fill out an application form in full as well as a Self Disclosure form. CVs alone will not be sufficient.

Salary £22,000-£25,000 per annum (not pro-rata) depending on experience.
