We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and motivated Personal Assistant / Support Worker to join a small, dedicated team supporting a 25-year-old disabled man to live an independent and fulfilling life at home and within the community.

About the Role
You will provide support to a wheelchair user who communicates non-verbally and lives at home with family. Duties include assisting with daily living activities, personal care, social and leisure activities; and supporting access to the community, therapies, and appointments in line with the young person’s care and support needs.
Shifts of 10 hours are worked on a rota basis as part of a support team. The role includes regular weekend and bank holiday working (at least two weekends per month on a fair rota system). It also includes accompanying the young person on respite breaks and holidays, involving overnight stays and occasional travel abroad. Flexibility and a willingness to travel are therefore essential requirements.
The role includes supporting hydrotherapy and swimming activities. Applicants must be comfortable entering the water where required as part of providing safe and effective support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support and personal care within the family home
- Assist with daily living activities and routines
- Support safe moving and handling procedures (full training provided)
- Prepare meals and provide support during mealtimes
- Enable access to social, leisure, and community activities
- Drive and accompany the individual to appointments and therapies using an adapted vehicle
- Support participation in hydrotherapy and water-based activities where required
- Maintain professional boundaries and respect privacy within a family home
About You

- Able to meet the physical requirements of the role, including supporting mobility and personal care needs, in line with safe working practices

- In possession of a full UK driving licence
Experience and Training
Previous experience in care, support work, or supporting individuals with additional needs is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Hours of Work
- Permanent contract for 25 hours per week (10 hours shifts)
- Daily shifts across weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays
- Applicants must be able to work at least two weekends per month as part of a fair rota system
- Occasional overnight respite support on an ad hoc basis
- Flexibility is required to meet support needs
