We are seeking a Graduate Ecologist focussed on Biodiversity Net Gain to join our team to assist with the growing number of BNG submissions, as well as further our work with our Habitat Bank partners. The individual will be focussed on Biodiversity Net Gain and Habitat Ecology and will be trained in using The Statutory Metric and associated assessments.
At CWE, we work on a variety of projects, from householder applications, large scale residential developments, renewable energy, commercial schemes and minerals and waste applications.
Job Roles:
- Undertake Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments and provide advice regarding the same for clients.
- Work closely with colleagues in our Landscape Architecture and Arboricultural team to provide high quality advice on projects.
- Produce high quality ecological reports for submission with planning applications.
- Manage your own projects under the supervision of the Ecology Director. Client liaison, fee proposals and billing are all key parts of project management.
Job Requirements:
- A degree or equivalent in an Environmental Science subject, or demonstration or relevant alternative experience.
- Proven and demonstrable experience undertaking PEA's, EcIA's and Protected Species Surveys, and ability to write these reports independently.
- Desirable membership with a relevant professional body such as CIEEM, IES, IEMA (will be paid for by CWE annually).
- Experience working within an ecological consultancy.
- Own car and ability to drive long distances for work.
- Ability to stay away from home for short periods (1-2 nights) for work throughout the UK (hotel expenses all paid for).
Candidates with successful CV's will be invited for interview. As part of the interview process, you will be asked to produce written work for assessment of skills. You may also be asked to attend a full or half trial day at the office (your time would be paid for) to further assess skills and fit within the team.
Salary range £23,000 - £27,000 per anum. Higher salaries can be negotiated based on experience of the individual.
