We are currently looking for at least one, possibly 2 enthusiastic and outgoing French-speaking Club leaders for four FUN after school "Club Français" after school clubs in the Heaton Chapel (Stockport) area, all after school on Mondays and Thursdays plus potentially another class on Tuesdays from January.
Teachers must ideally have a car or own transport (location is close to public transport from Manchester if not)
We would like a teacher to start as soon as possible in September 2026 and you would be taking over existing classes across the primary age groups from ages 4-7. These classes are very well attended and we are looking for someone with experience of working with children, ideally to run all the classes, or otherwise two teachers who will share the groups across available days.
This may suit someone who already works in evenings, or earlier in the day or at weekend, that this job could fit around. You would need to be available between for after school between 3 and 4.30pm roughly (you would only be teaching 45 mins-1 hour but this window allows for parking/ travel/setup time and possibility that parents could be late rarely but occasionally.)
We require a suitable person who has some experience with younger children and/or teaching children in Primary School settings or similar.
You MUST:-
- be native or near fluent in French.
- be available to work at the above specified times
- be enthusiastic about working with children.
- be living near the Stockport area, or willing to travel on a long-term basis (ideally should have a car to increase reliability)
- be able to commit to the long term position of club leader for this clubs
Please be aware this is *not* a full-time position, only part-time, however there may be future opportunities to expand the number of sessions you do and work lunchtimes. Please explain your availability on your application cover notes or CV.
You must be comfortable with children from 4-11. Teaching experience is preferred here, and it would be valuable to have experience working with children from 3-11 in a school or childcare setting.
Some training will be given, but to be successful, it is important that you have a good understanding of and fluency communicating in English. You will receive all the resources you'll need to be able to teach these groups, all you will need to do is prepare and plan your lessons around your groups beforehand.
You should also have an understanding of basic safeguarding, otherwise you will be asked to take a training course before you will be able to start.
As this is an urgent position we cannot accept applicants who are NOT already living in the local area, and we will be not be accepting any applicants who do not demonstrate that they live in the North West of England on their CV or covering letter.
Those who wish to work for us in future may send us a CV clearly stating that they may be moving to the area in future.
Salary is dependent on the type of work - club/in-school and the number of children and length of session, and can range from £21-40 per hourly session, rising with experience gained and depending on numbers of children you are teaching. For these clubs, they are well attended and so you can expect to be paid the higher end of this scale, and higher if you have experience or qualifications.
Our ideal candidates are either parents who need an extra income, students (who have consistent availability), teachers who have taken a break from teaching, or are retired, but wish to teach part time, but we welcome any application from people of all walks of life. Due to the timing of after school clubs it is imperative if you have children that your own children have a permanent childcare plan in place for you to accept this position, as parents depend upon us to be present for their own childcare.
Please send your CV if you have one, or explain your availability and experience in your message to us. If your CV doesn't demonstrate any relevant experience or interest in teaching, or you don't live in the area, you will not receive a response.
