Full job description

We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Plants General Assistant to join our team at Frosts Garden Centre. Are you passionate about plants and gardening? Do you enjoy helping customers and being part of a friendly, hardworking team? If so, we would love to hear from you.

Temporary Plants General Assistant

Location: Frosts Garden Centre Woburn Sands

Hours: Minimum 18 hours per week, including weekend working

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy plant department, particularly during our peak seasonal periods, where no two days are the same.

The Role

This is a hands-on and varied role within our plants department. You will play a key part in ensuring our plant area is well-stocked, beautifully presented, and that every customer receives knowledgeable and friendly service.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing friendly and knowledgeable advice to customers on plant care and selection
Watering, pruning, deadheading, and general plant maintenance
Assisting with deliveries, checking stock, and replenishing displays
Maintaining high standards of visual presentation across the plant area
Helping customers transport and load plants into their vehicles
Supporting the wider team across the centre when required
Operating tills and handling transactions accurately (if required)

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Has a genuine passion for plants and gardening
Enjoys delivering excellent customer service
Is proactive, reliable, and able to work as part of a team
Is comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Has good organisational skills and attention to detail
Is flexible and able to work alternate weekends

Previous plant knowledge or retail experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided for the right candidate.
