School Administrator & Attendance Officer
Fortitude School is a small, nurturing specialist provision supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism and communication differences. Our approach is relational, trauma-informed and child-centred. We are looking to appoint a highly organised and proactive School Administrator & Attendance Officer to support the day-to-day running of our growing provision.
Role Overview
This is a varied administrative role that will support the smooth operation of the school. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of administrative, attendance and reception duties, whilst also providing occasional support with SEND administration and annual review processes. The role would suit somebody who is organised, confident communicating with families and professionals, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Attendance & Admissions
- Monitor daily attendance and follow up absences with parents/carers.
- Maintain accurate attendance records.
- Produce attendance reports and monitor attendance trends.
- Liaise with families regarding attendance concerns.
- Support with pupil admissions and transition paperwork.
Reception & Administration
- Act as the first point of contact for visitors, parents and professionals.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to emails professionally.
- Maintain pupil records and school databases.
- Manage filing systems and ensure records are accurate and up to date.
- Support with school communications, letters and newsletters.
- Assist with organising meetings, appointments and events.
- Order resources and maintain administrative systems.
SEND Administration
- Support the SENCo with administrative tasks.
- Coordinate and prepare paperwork for EHCP Annual Reviews.
- Arrange review meetings and send invitations to professionals and families.
- Liaise with Local Authorities and external agencies.
- Gather reports and information from school staff.
- Ensure SEND documentation is compliant and submitted within required timescales.
Essential Requirements Applicants should have:
- Previous experience in an administrative role.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT skills
- Experience maintaining accurate records and managing confidential information.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads.
- A professional and friendly manner when dealing with families and professionals.
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience working within a school environment.
- Knowledge of attendance procedures.
- Experience supporting SEND administration or EHCP processes.
- Understanding of SEMH, autism and specialist education settings.

Hours & Pay
- Full time (possibly Part-time)
- Flexible working pattern available.
- Competitive rate of pay dependent on experience.
