Kitchen Manager - Standon House and Gardens

About us

Standon House and Gardens is a 31-bed residential care home and Extra Care community in Tamworth, part of a family business that has been caring for people in the local community for over 40 years. We are looking for an experienced Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen team and deliver fresh, nutritious meals to our residents every day.

The role

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will split your time between cooking shifts alongside the team and management-focused days covering planning, ordering, and kitchen oversight. As well as serving residents in the care home, the kitchen also provides meals to residents in our adjoining Extra Care apartments, so there is a real sense that what you do each day makes a difference to a wide group of people. We want someone who leads from the front and is just as comfortable cooking as they are running the team.

What you'll be doing

Overseeing all aspects of food preparation and cooking, ensuring consistently high quality
Working cooking shifts as part of the team alongside management duties
Delivering meals to residents both in the care home and our adjoining Extra Care apartments
Planning and developing menus with residents' dietary needs and preferences at the centre
Supervising and training kitchen staff, including assigning tasks and day-to-day guidance
Monitoring stock levels and ordering supplies as needed
Ensuring the maintenance of accurate kitchen records including temperature logs, allergen information, and food safety documentation
Maintaining a clean, organised kitchen that meets all food hygiene and health and safety requirements
Arranging cover during holidays and sickness to keep the kitchen running smoothly

What we're looking for

Previous experience as a cook or kitchen supervisor, ideally in a care, hospitality, or catering environment
A solid understanding of food preparation, dietary requirements, and allergen management
Good communication and leadership skills - you take ownership and bring the team with you
High standards of cleanliness and a methodical approach to kitchen management
Comfortable with the admin side of the role - completing records, managing paperwork, and using basic computer software for ordering and spreadsheets
Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as the rota requires
Ability to stay calm and organised in a busy environment
