Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Turner with strong knowledge of Prototrak and Fanuc controls to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting, operating, and programming CNC lathes to produce high-quality precision components in line with engineering drawings and quality standards. Experience of manual turning would be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- To machine the range of company parts safely, in the most efficient manner and to a high-quality standard.
- Set up and operate CNC lathes.
- Edit and create CNC programs as required.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and job instructions.
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machine parameters.
- Monitor production runs and make adjustments to maintain tolerances.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
- Identify and resolve machining issues to minimise downtime.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records.
- Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Good CNC Programming, Set-Up and Machining skills developed over a period of time following initial training/apprenticeship.
- Good understanding of cutting speeds, feeds and inserts to achieve specific finishes.
- Knowledge and experience of machining various metals including carbon and alloy steels, bronzes, stainless and nickel alloys.
- Experience in manual turning
- Experience or awareness of milling and boring processes
Qualifications / Experience: We believe more in your skills on the machine than in certificates or formal qualifications. We are looking for someone who has theory knowledge equivalent to an HNC or better. We are looking for you to evidence practical skills of someone who has consolidated their skills and experience beyond an apprenticeship level. You should be entirely self sufficient and progressing towards the ability to mentor others.

They have a very well equipped workshop with modern cnc machinery and an excellent team of skilled tradesmen to work along side.
- Pay: From £18.00 per hour, negotiable dependent on experience.
- Regular overtime is available. All overtime is paid at a minimum of time + half
- Optional Four Day working week.
- 30 days annual leave, rising to 33 with service.
- Long established company with recent and ongoing investment in the machine shop section.
