We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and animal-loving Grooming assistant to join our busy salon. This is an excellent entry level opportunity for someone who enjoys working with dogs and is interested in developing a career in the pet grooming industry.
As an Assistant, you will play a vital role in preparing dogs for grooming services by bathing, drying, brushing, and maintaining a clean and safe salon environment. No professional grooming experience is required as full training can be provided for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
· Bathe dogs of all breeds, sizes, and coat types using appropriate shampoos and grooming products.
· Safely lift and assist dogs into bathing areas and grooming stations adhering to health & safety guidelines.
· Perform pre-grooming tasks, including ear cleaning, nail filing, and coat preparation.
· Operate high-velocity dryers/blasters to remove excess water and loose undercoat.
· Brush, de-mat, and prepare coats to a professional standard for the stylist.
· Monitor pets for comfort and wellbeing throughout the bathing and drying process.
· Maintain high standards of cleanliness by sanitising bathing areas, cleaning cages, and sterilising grooming equipment.
· Ensure all safety protocols are followed to prevent injury or distress to animals and staff.
· Support the grooming team with general salon duties as required, including phone and email enquiries, diary bookings, payments and detailed records of treatments and grooms.
The ideal candidate will:
1. Have a genuine passion for working with dogs and animals.
2. Be physically fit and capable of handling dogs of all sizes, including some heavy lifting.
3. Be comfortable around ALL breeds.
4. Demonstrate patience and confidence when working with nervous or anxious pets.
5. Be comfortable working around grooming equipment and a busy salon environment.
6. Have excellent attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
7. Possess previous animal handling experience (preferred but not essential).
8. Be reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team.
