Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organised Post Office Counter Clerk to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, managing postal transactions, and ensuring the smooth operation of the counter. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, be proficient with computer applications, and have a professional demeanour. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their experience within a busy postal environment. Waffle Lyme Regis opened a Post Office last September so it will require some Front of House duties as well.

Duties

Greet customers warmly and assist with postal services including mailing, parcels, and money orders
Process transactions accurately using relevant software and systems
Manage cash register operations, including handling payments and issuing receipts
Maintain organised records of transactions and customer information
Provide information on postal products and services to customers
Ensure the counter area remains clean, tidy, and well-stocked
Handle phone enquiries professionally, providing prompt assistance or directing calls appropriately
Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and updating records
Follow all health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment

Qualifications

Previous office or clerical experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Workspace, and data entry systems
Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
Administrative experience demonstrating attention to detail and reliability
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Organised with good time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively

This role is ideal for motivated individuals seeking to utilise their administrative talents within a supportive postal service environment.

Pay: £12.75 per hour
