Background and Job Purpose: “Supporting positive change in the lives of children and young people”
The Zone Youth Club (organisation name, and operating at The Pavilion Youth & Community Café) is a charity based in Broadstairs offering free, high-quality opportunities to children and young people between the ages of 5-16. We believe the creative arts as well as outdoor sports and activities are a superb tool for creativity, motivation, inclusion and self-confidence. Since our inception in 2006, we have developed a significant track record for supporting children and young people through our youth club, including creative projects, especially those facing challenging circumstances (such as those in care, young people with disabilities and those who face emotional and social difficulties), and have maintained a good record of obtaining support funding.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Support Youth Worker to focus on delivering outdoor sports and games, working with and supporting children and young people whilst they engage in positive activities. You will need to be confident in delivering fun and inclusive sessions, recognising a potentially wide range of skills and abilities within the young people we work with. Our club is based in a public park and we have a good selection of equipment and resources to support delivery. The post will include designing, planning, delivering, and evaluating activities. Keeping records and monitoring paperwork will also be required.
In addition to the term time youth worker role, there will be extended working hours during school holidays. We deliver a very full programme of activities during the holidays, including some trips out, and residential weekends.
We work closely as a team and expect everyone to help and support each other when required. This position is subject to the applicant holding or receiving a clear Enhanced DBS certificate, and having two references. Due to the nature of the work, we have a minimum age requirement of 20. There is a 6-month probationary period, and the position is also subject to securing continued funding. Safeguarding instruction will be given which is relevant to this setting.
