Support Assistant – Early Years

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Support Assistant to join our friendly Early Years team here at Burns Bairns. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young children to learn, grow and thrive in a nurturing, inclusive environment.
Working alongside our Early Years Practitioners, you will play an important role in supporting children's wellbeing, learning and daily routines while helping maintain a safe, welcoming and stimulating setting.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and serving healthy snacks in line with Setting the Table, Food matters, local policy and guidance.
- Supporting children with personal care, including toileting, handwashing and changing where required, whilst maintaining dignity and respect.
- Supporting children's daily transitions throughout the nursery routine to ensure they feel safe, secure and confident.
- Completing daily paperwork and maintaining accurate records.
- Carrying out routine cleaning schedules and maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the setting.
- Undertaking general light cleaning duties, including tidying play areas, sanitising resources and supporting infection prevention procedures.
- Supporting children during indoor and outdoor play experiences.
- Encouraging positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- Participating in community activities and helping build positive links with the local community.
- Attending and actively contributing to weekly team meetings.
- Following all safeguarding, health and safety, and Care Inspectorate requirements.
- Supporting the nursery team with the smooth day-to-day running of the setting.
- Promoting children's wellbeing, independence and confidence through nurturing, responsive care.

Essential Requirements
- Experience working with young children is desirable but not essential.
- Willingness to undertake training and professional development.
- Successful applicants will be subject to PVG Scheme membership, satisfactory references and the ability to register with the SSSC.
