Full job description

About the Role:

As a Head of Therapeutic Parenting, you will be joining the company at an exciting and compelling time as Halliwell are successfully expanding the delivery of our Restorative Parenting® programme and opening further homes. Halliwell has recently restructured as an Employee Ownership Trust meaning greater engagement opportunities for all colleagues in the improvement of the business as well as greater benefits and rewards when the business performs well and achieves great outcomes for the children in its care.

The postholder will report to the Director of Therapeutic Parenting and will include working very closely with the Current Heads of Therapeutic Parents, Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team to ensure all homes operate Ofsted compliant practices, achieving outstanding ratings.

Hours: Monday - Friday based on 40 hours per week (flexibility required to work occasional evenings, weekends and on-call requirements)

The main responsibilities for the role will include:

The postholder will provide effective operational leadership, management support and guidance to the Lead Therapeutic Parents (Registered Managers) in the development of the Children's Homes.
The postholder will ensure that all the homes operate to consistently high standard within all appropriate regulatory frameworks, supervising the Lead Therapeutic Parents (Registered Manager), including chairing peer supervision meetings to ensure support in role and exchange of good practice across the homes.
The postholder will liaise with relevant outside agencies, representing the Company at meetings and maintaining a high level of professionalism at all times.
Ensuring that the homes maintain consistent standards in line with The Restorative Parenting Model.
The postholder will liaise with the Director of Therapeutic Parenting to ensure all homes are adequately resourced and supported to deliver Restorative Parenting and to ensure effective communication between practice and education, promote and maintain a healthy and safe environment for all residential staff.
The postholder will ensure that all the practice teams fully participate in training and that robust supervision systems are maintained and will be committed to continual professional development including maintaining up to date training in Restorative Parenting.
The postholder will liaise with the referrals team and support matching meetings, assess and match children placements.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children across all areas of practice and education.
To be available for all members of the practice and education teams to discuss any safeguarding concerns.
To communicate with and represent the Company in liaison with all appropriate external agencies.
Ensure that safeguarding practice within the Company is carried out to the highest standards at all times.
Maintain effective communication with all relevant agencies.
Take part in strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings and/or to support other staff to do so.
To act as a source of support, advice and expertise to staff on matters of safety and safeguarding and when deciding whether to make a referral by liaising with the relevant agencies.
Ensure that a high level of understanding and awareness of safeguarding issues is maintained across the organisation.
Ensure that high quality safeguarding/child protection policies are kept up to date and in place across the organisation.
Ensure that the Safeguarding Policy is publicly available.
Preventing radicalisation In accordance with the Prevent Duty Guidance for England and Wales and: Protecting vulnerable people from being drawn into terrorism (2015). Undertaking and providing appropriate training in this area.
Maintain an update working knowledge of how Local Authorities conduct a child protection case conference and a child protection review conference and be able to attend and contribute to these effectively when required to do so.
Ensure that all members of the practice team fully understand the Company's safeguarding procedures and their roles and responsibilities within them.
Liaise with the Practice Director to ensure all areas of the organisation are adequately resourced and supported to deliver effective Safeguarding.
Liaising with the Practice Director and Director of Education to ensure effective communication between practice and education.
Help to promote and maintain a healthy and safe environment for all children and staff.
Ensure that all the practice teams fully participate in safeguarding training and that robust supervision systems are maintained.

The successful candidate will have the following:

· Must hold the Level 5 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).

Ideally hold or willingness to complete Level 7 in Strategic Leadership and Management.
Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
Extensive experience as a previous Registered Manager for children’s residential.
Experience in previously managing homes to Ofsted and above over a sustained period.
Able to lead professional meetings in the absence of the Board of Directors and represent the business to a high standard.
Experience in Safeguarding and able to successfully lean on disciplinary proceedings and outcomes.
