Pennine School is a independent special school for pupils aged 10–18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are now recruiting an enthusiastic and experienced Primary School Teacher to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the foundation of a specialist school designed to meet pupils’ individual learning needs and prepare them for success in GCSEs, functional skills and beyond.
About the Role
As an Primary School Teacher you will:
- Teach KS1 and KS2, adapting your practice to meet individual needs
- Deliver engaging, motivating lessons that promote confidence and literacy development
- Use data effectively to evaluate pupil progress and inform planning
- Work closely with specialist support staff and multi-agency partners to enhance outcomes
- Foster positive relationships with pupils and families to support engagement and wellbeing
- Contribute to curriculum planning in a broad, balanced and personalised setting
Person Specification
You will be able to demonstrate the following:
Training & Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- SEN and behaviour-related training desirable (but not essential)
Experience
- Teaching Ks1 and KS2 with measurable impact
- Experience supporting learners with SEMH or challenging behaviour
- Skilled at using assessment data to track progress
Professional Knowledge
- Strong understanding of curriculum planning, assessment and effective pedagogy
- Confident with ICT for teaching and learning
- Knowledge of national policies, statutory frameworks, and school improvement strategies
Personal Attributes
- Ability to motivate pupils and engage adults (including parents/carers)
- Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Highly organised with effective time management
- Resilient, reflective and committed to specialist SEMH education
