Full job description

We are a growing metal fabrication and welding company specialising in bespoke steelwork, fabrication, and welding solutions for commercial and industrial projects. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality workmanship, precision detailing, and excellent customer service.

We are currently seeking an experienced Draughtsman / CAD Technician to join our team.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing detailed fabrication drawings and conducting site surveys for a variety of metalwork projects. This role requires strong technical ability, excellent attention to detail, and hands-on experience within the fabrication industry.

Key Responsibilities

Produce accurate fabrication and workshop drawings
Create 2D and 3D models using Advance Steel and AutoCAD
Interpret architectural and engineering drawings/specifications
Prepare material schedules and fabrication packs
Conduct site surveys and take accurate measurements
Liaise with project managers, workshop staff, and clients
Amend and update drawings throughout project stages
Ensure all drawings meet project and industry standards

Essential Requirements

Proven experience in metal fabrication and welding environments
Proficient in Advance Steel and AutoCAD
Ability to conduct site surveys independently
Strong understanding of fabrication and welding processes
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Full UK driving licence
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable Skills

Experience with structural steelwork and architectural metalwork
Knowledge of CNC cutting and manufacturing processes
Previous workshop or fabrication experience
Relevant engineering or CAD qualification

The successful candidate will be employed on a self-employed basis for the first 6 months leading on to full-time employment at Walcot Metal Fabrication. Hourly rate is negotiable based on if candidate has use of own software/IT supplies.

Pay: £22.00-£32.00 per hour

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Corsham (Wiltshire)
